Program Schedule:
  • Arrival Day, Sunday: Volunteers arrive at Bhuj Airport on Sunday and are transferred to Kutch, where they will be welcomed and given an orientation on the region’s history, culture, and spiritual significance.
  • Day 1, Monday: Volunteers will start their journey by engaging in the preservation of local arts and crafts. They will visit artisan villages to help preserve and promote traditional Kutch crafts like Bandhani (tie-dye), Kutch embroidery, and block printing. Volunteers will have the chance to learn the basics of these techniques and assist in workshops.
  • Days 2-3, Tuesday & Wednesday: Volunteers will participate in rural community development activities, such as organizing health awareness programs, supporting women’s empowerment initiatives, and providing educational support to children in local schools. In the afternoons, they will join environmental conservation efforts by cleaning desert areas, organizing waste management drives, and working on sustainable farming practices with local farmers.
  • Day 4, Thursday: The focus will shift to Kutch’s rich cultural heritage. Volunteers will help in organizing cultural events, assist in the preparation for the Rann Utsav, and support local performers and dancers. They will also take part in a cultural workshop that includes learning traditional Kutch folk music, dance, and theater, giving volunteers a chance to experience the local artistic traditions.
  • Day 5, Friday: Volunteers will explore the ancient temples, forts, and other historical sites in Kutch, such as the Aina Mahal (Palace of Mirrors) and the Kutch Rann. In the afternoon, they will work on educational outreach programs in local villages, engaging children and youth through interactive learning and activities.
  • Days 6-7, Saturday & Sunday: Weekends are free for volunteers to explore Kutch’s unique cultural and natural attractions:
    • Rann of Kutch: Visit the Rann of Kutch, an expansive white salt desert, and experience its mystical beauty at sunset.
    • Rann Utsav: Participate in the Rann Utsav, Kutch’s annual cultural festival, where volunteers can enjoy music, dance, folk performances, and craft exhibitions.
    • Mandvi Beach: Explore Mandvi Beach, famous for its beautiful coastline and tranquil surroundings, ideal for relaxation and reflection.

What’s Included:
  • Accommodations: Volunteers will stay in simple but comfortable accommodations, including guesthouses, homestays, or volunteer houses in Kutch, providing an authentic rural experience.
  • Food: Vegetarian meals (3 meals per day, Monday-Friday), offering a variety of traditional Gujarati cuisine, including dal, khichdi, and dhokla.
  • Transfers: Airport transfers from Bhuj to Kutch, local transport for program activities, and group travel to nearby destinations.
  • Support: 24/7 emergency support, volunteer coordinator, local guides, and cultural facilitators for traditional workshops.

Volunteer Age Requirements:
  • Minimum age: 18. Volunteers aged 16-17 may apply with parental consent.
