Program Schedule:
- Arrival Day, Sunday: Volunteers should arrive at Madurai Airport on Sunday. After arrival, they will be transferred to Rameswaram by road (approximately 3-4 hours). In the evening, a brief orientation session will take place, where volunteers will be introduced to the city’s spiritual and cultural context.
- Day 1, Monday: Volunteers will begin their day with an introduction to the Rameswaram Temple. They will assist in preserving the temple’s heritage, cleaning the temple complex, and helping in the preparation of sacred offerings. Volunteers will also have the chance to participate in the morning Aarti (ritual prayer) at the Ramanathaswamy Temple.
- Days 2-3, Tuesday & Wednesday: Volunteers will continue their work in temple preservation, helping to protect and conserve the temple’s sacred artifacts, murals, and statues. In the afternoons, they will be involved in environmental conservation efforts, including beach clean-ups and coastal conservation activities. Evening activities will include cultural exploration, such as workshops on local arts, music, and traditional Tamil rituals.
- Day 4, Thursday: The focus will shift to community outreach, where volunteers will visit nearby villages to support local education, conduct health camps, and help with sanitation and hygiene projects. Volunteers will also be involved in organizing local cultural events, such as traditional dance performances or storytelling sessions centered around the Ramayana.
- Day 5, Friday: Volunteers will participate in a heritage tour, visiting key cultural and spiritual landmarks in and around Rameswaram. This includes visiting the historic Dhanushkodi ruins, the Pamban Bridge (Rameswaram Bridge), and the famous Agni Theertham beach. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to engage with local artisans, learning about traditional crafts such as weaving and pottery making.
- Days 6-7, Saturday & Sunday: Weekends are free for volunteers to explore Rameswaram and its surrounding areas:
- Dhanushkodi: Visit the ruins of Dhanushkodi, a ghost town that holds significant mythological and historical importance, with connections to Lord Rama and the Ramayana.
- Agni Theertham Beach: Enjoy the serene Agni Theertham beach, a significant pilgrimage site, where devotees take a holy dip to cleanse themselves of sins.
- Pamban Bridge: Explore the famous Pamban Bridge, also known as the Rameswaram Bridge, which connects the island of Rameswaram to the mainland of India.

Volunteer Age Requirements:
