Volunteering in Israel – Making the Dogs Happy!

Volunteering in Israel at the Tel Aviv Animal Shelter made my three-week holiday complete and unforgettable! After a great first day in Jerusalem, I was guided by Yan from GoEco to Tel Aviv, where my volunteer experience would begin.

When I arrived at the shelter, I got an introduction how to work with the dogs. There was also a chance to pet and play with the cats, and of course I took that opportunity. My main task every day was to walk the dogs, a very satisfying thing to do. It’s great to see the happiness in their eyes and to watch them play with each other in the backyard.

When I was not volunteering at the Tel Aviv Animal Shelte project, I enjoyed the city of Tel Aviv. The beach is beautiful! And I had a lot of fun with my new friends that I made at the hostel. Tel Aviv is a great city to shop and walk, there are markets, dog parks and the beautiful HaYarkon Park.

The gorgeous city of Jaffo is nearby, so I walked to the city along the beach. Jerusalem is an hour away by bus, so of course I went to the capital and I had a great day there with some friends. I ate a lot of humus in Tel Aviv. I love it! When I went to the Animal Shelter for the last time, I noticed that my favourite dog, Looq, had been adopted.

After two weeks of volunteering in Tel Aviv, I went to Eilat for a couple days to enjoy the beach and to swim with the dolphins, also a great experience! I also went another couple days to Jerusalem. It was really a holiday to remember! A country to go back again.
