Historically, Argentina was always considered a wealthy country, but since the financial crisis of 2001 and the deflation of the Argentine Peso, the country has faced many economic trials, including a drastic increase in poverty and the subsequent lack of subsidy for public services. In conjunction with local NGOs and volunteer organizations, this project aims to improve the quality of life for those living under these devastating conditions. By studying Spanish in the mornings and volunteering with children in the afternoon, you will have the unique experience of immersing yourself in all aspects of Argentine culture as well as having the opportunity to practice your Spanish in real-life situations.

After school program: Volunteers will work with a nonprofit that helps youth living in extremely impoverished areas of Argentina. Their goal is to provide healthy development, happiness, and a hopeful future for these marginalized children.

Assisting the Elderly: Support the efforts of this organization to make low-income seniors feel part of the community. They offer snacks, yoga classes, film showings, a library, educational workshops and even a place to shower, if needed.
Volunteer tasks include:

Accommodations:
You will be staying with a local host in one of the best neighborhoods in the city (max. 40 minutes to the school). Volunteers will have a single bedroom and share a bathroom and communal spaces with your host.
Food:
Meals are not included but students have access to a fully equipped kitchen.

During your volunteer placement you will have varied opportunities to socialize with students and Argentines alike, as well as to practice your Spanish outside the classroom setting. These may include:
