This road trip takes you throughout Fiji, from the main island to the exclusive island of Ovalau and back, and is filled with cultural activities, beach time, village stays and resort stays and everything in between!

Itinerary:

Arrival Day, Sunday: Arrive at Nausori International Airport (SUV) or Nadi International Airport (NAN). Participants will be picked up from both airports and taken to accommodations.

Day 1, Monday: Participants will receive an introduction to the program and Fijian culture with a visit to Sigatoka Fort Hill, Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park, and meet with elders in a traditional village. Overnight stay in the village.

Day 2, Tuesday: Travelers will receive a delightful welcome ceremony followed by lesson on Fijian culture and learn some of the language. 

Day 3, Wednesday: Truly immerse yourself into the culture by cooking a traditional meal and making a Fijian dance costume!

Day 4, Thursday: Enjoy the nicer things with a day at the beach and overnight stay in a luxurious harborside resort! Participants are free to swim and relax on the beach, and can partake in activities such as snorkeling and kayaking at their own expense.

Day 5, Friday: Participants will transfer to Suva and explore the town with a sightseeing tour.

Day 6, Saturday: Visit the Colo-i-Suva National Park, nearby waterfalls and enjoy a picnic to welcome the weekend!

Day 7, Sunday: Enjoy a free day in Suva.

Days 8 -12, Monday-Friday: Give back to the local community in Suva through either a sports coaching, teaching or kindergarten assistance program.

Day 13, Saturday: Travel to Fiji's exclusive Ovalau island and first capital city of Levuka for a historical tour that includes trips to the local market, museum, the oldest school and more.

Day 14, Sunday: Enjoy the beaches of Levuka on this free day.

Day 15, Monday: Learn more about Fijian traditions, including how to build a Fijian Bure accommodation!

Day 16, Tuesday: This day includes a village tour and hike to wondrous waterfalls where travelers will enjoy swimming and a picnic.

Day 17, Wednesday: Welcome another beach day with visits to sandbanks, a fish barbeque lunch on the beach and beach sports!

Day 18, Thursday: An early morning departure and arrival back to the main island of Viti Levu. Scenic drive to Lautoka. Travelers can enjoy a relaxing bamboo raft ride for an additional fee. Overnight in the local village.

Day 19, Friday: Experience the magnificent Sabeto hills and mud pool hot springs in one of Fiji's most ecological areas!

Day 20, Saturday: Relax on a private beach, attend a farewell party and traditional dance in Nadi and spend the night in another island resort!

Day 21, Sunday: The fun has to end sometime. Departure day for all participants.

Participants will gain the most out of their traveling experience by also giving back to one of the communities along the route. While in the Suva region, participants will have a choice of participating in one of three different projects, depending on the current needs of the community. The options include sports coaching, teaching and assisting in a local kindergarten. Specific tasks will vary depending on the project.

Some of your tasks may include:
  • Teaching arts and crafts to kindergartners
  • Teaching English
  • Playing games with school children
  • Organizing recreational activities
  • Assisting sports coaches

Sample Schedule: Volunteer work will take place during Days 8-12 of the itinerary.

Food:  Typical Fijian vegetarian and chicken dishes will be served throughout the road trip.
Please take note of this project's minimum requirements:
  • Basic level of English
  • Participants should be in good physical shape (able to hike and trek)
  • Police clearance
